Commercial Tips

Commercial HVAC systems are critical to the daily operation of any commercial building because they keep your employees and customers comfortable at all times. They also keep merchandise and equipment safe from the elements and ensures a steady, reliable temperature and humidity level inside. The following tips should allow you to keep your commercial heating and AC system well maintained for years to come.

Saving Energy & Money Tips

The following solutions will help you save money by cutting down the overall energy usage of your commercial HVAC system.

There are dozens of ways to cut energy costs during the peaks of winter and summer, it’s simply a matter of knowing how.

Evaporative Cooler

This technology is just now gaining in popularity in the United States, but has been hugely popular in countries like Japan and throughout Europe where energy costs have long been very high. Evaporative coolers use electricity to cool by circulating air across pads filled with water. The air absorbs the water molecules and is then circulated into the commercial space. The evaporative process will then cool the air. In some evaporative coolers, the unit itself is cooled with this water, reducing the temperature the unit operates at and increasing its efficiency. They can be operated with solar heating panels and a simple silica solution that evaporates water at a very low temperature. They work best in dry climates. Evaporative coolers can cut costs by as much as 35% each year over traditional air conditioners.

If you opt for a more traditional rooftop system, compare the cost of gas and electric systems and see if you can integrate your heating system into a packaged system. There are a lot of ways to save money on your installation if you pay attention to the details.

Commercial Building Comfort Systems

Your building is equipped with systems, some of which may be years or even decades old. Older, inefficient systems can lead hundreds of dollars a year being wasted because they can’t match the efficiency of modern systems. Do a complete audit of your energy consuming HVAC systems and look for ways to upgrade. Even the fans and pump motors can be upgraded easily enough and cut down your energy use by significant amounts.

You may not decide to have a completely new HVAC system installed, but there are ways to save huge amounts of money on your monthly energy bills.
